Kori Rae Year 3
The WILDEST 3 year old you’ve ever seen is shaking up the Warren household on the daily. Kori Rae has hit her threenage year and honestly, it’s been FABULOUS. Yes, we have the drama that a little toddler brings but not nearly as bad as I was anticipating. It could be that the true colors haven’t hit yet and it’s going to hit us like a ton of bricks…but let’s just think positive. ;-)
A few things about my baby girl during her wild second year::
SPEECH: Kori still talks up a storm and her story telling abilities are starting to emerge. There are some crazy things that go on inside that tiny mind and she loves to tell you all about them. She talks a mile a minute and I will literally have to tell her to breatheeeeeeeee...she just gets so excited.
HOBBIES: This girl LOVES LIFE. She doesn’t care what she’s doing or where she’s going but she just likes to GO. Every night before bed we have to plan out her next day “Where I going tomorrow”, “What’s next?”...she lives for a plan and schedule. She loves the water, the park, monkey bars, her chickens, her dogs, and everything she encounters. It’s hard to find anything she doesn’t like to be honest and she just wants to know if there will be friends and toys everywhere we go. Currently, we are obsessed with all things princess and baby. She loves to take care of her babies...feed them, put them to sleep, take them shopping...the works. She is also in her princess get-up on most days and says “I am the princess and Nolan will be my knight”. Poor boy doesn’t stand a chance.
HAIR: Kori got her FIRST haircut when Nolan got his for his first birthday. It took awhile for our girl to get long enough hair to cut but I finally decided it was time for her lucky rattail to go. It’s still curly and crazy and she prefers to “leave it wild” on most days.
THREENAGER: A little diva attitude is definitely present and getting stronger by the day. Caleb tells me all the time, “what is that attitude”. I have no answers. We are trying to be consistent with discipline and not laugh at her antics so we don’t send the wrong message. BUT, it’s so hard not to laugh at her when she throws those hands on her hips and tries to scold us. Like WHOA, girl...if looks could kill… She repeats EVERYTHING she sees or hears and it’s hilarious to see our conversations replayed through the eyes of a three year old.
My current trick is telling her to “pull it together” when she’s having a meltdown. We have to pull in our positive big girl energy and exhale it out our sass. Most of the time she’s crying “I just can’t pull it together”...I feel you girl, I feel you and I must warn you, it doesn’t really get better with age...at 31 I still can’t pull it together either. LOL!
POTTY TRAINING: We are officially through the potty training stage and have been rocking life as a big girl for awhile accident free! Kori does believe however that it’s totally ok to go pee outside “because that’s what Mya & Bruno do”...while I see her point, we are working on only going potty INSIDE. K, thanks.
SCHOOL: School is basically Kor’s favorite thing ever. She knows that she goes on Tuesday and Thursday...she loves getting up and getting ready to go. She will tell you bright and early that we need to hurry so we aren’t late. She is concerned with being late everywhere we go. She must already sense that her Mama is habitually late every darn day. ;-) She has lots of friends (even a boyfriend…), loves her teachers, and loves to go learn. I’m so glad we put her in school when we did because she is thriving. I am thinking of going to 3 days because I know she’ll love it but selfishly, I’m not ready!!!!
BIG GIRL BED: Kori is finally sleeping in her big girl bed *most* of the time. She avoids sleep like it’s the plague and we are working on fixing that. When bedtime rolls around she becomes famished, dehydrated, and feels the need to read at least 14 books. She tries hard to sleep in Mama and Daddy’s bed and to be honest, sometimes I cave just so she’ll go to sleep. Then I move her over to her room like a ninja in the night. No matter when she finally goes down to sleep, she’ll be up by 6a running down the hallway to tell me “It’s Morning time! Time to wake up”...I hear of these unicorn kids who sleep in until 8:00a but 3 years in and it’s NEVER happened. I’m just patiently waiting…;-)
PERSONALITY: Our girl is the MOST outgoing thing that ever happened. She will talk to ANYONE and thinks everyone under 4 feet tall is her best friend and everyone under 2 feet is a baby like Nolan. She LOVES to go places, be around people, play, run, and be as wild as possible. She is so considerate of other kids and always wants to make sure everyone is taken care of. She is a magnet to all babies and will tell you how cuuuuuute they are and will tell you how to take care of them. I hope that caring heart of hers never changes.
FOOD: She still eats like a champ and uses food as a bartering tool. “If I have 5 bites of my food, I WILL get a cookie” She’s not great with asking...more telling you how it’s going to go down. I must say she’s a great salesman and has a way with words. ;-)
SKILLS: Our little coordinated lady is becoming quite the dancer. She is obsessed with music and dancing...we have at least one daily dance session in this house. We always joke she’s our contemporary dancer because she is SO dramatic and loves to just float around with her arms and legs flailing. She ends every “dance” with a very serious bow and if you don’t clap she’ll kindly remind you that it’s not nice to not clap when she bows… I think dance class may be in our near future. Dance mom life here I come!
Our little KoKo Bean is absolutely the light of our world and brings joy to everything she touches. There is not a dull moment with this kid and from sun up to sun down she is a million miles a minute. I’m so grateful for her spunky little self
